Presidential and Provincial Council Elections, 5 April and 14 June 2014
- Following an invitation from the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan, the OSCE Permanent Council tasked ODIHR to deploy an Election Support Team to assist government and international efforts in conducting the presidential and provincial council elections and to prepare a report, including recommendations, with a view to enhancing the conduct of future elections.

Parliamentary Elections, 18 September 2010
- Following an invitation from the Afghan Independent Election Commission to support Afghanistan's election process, the OSCE Permanent Council tasked ODIHR with deploying an election support team. The team was deployed on 9 September.

- Following an invitation from the Afghan government, the OSCE Permanent Council mandated ODIHR to deploy an Election Support Team (EST) to the 2009 presidential and provincial council elections.

Parliamentary Elections, 18 September 2005
- The OSCE Permanent Council Decision 686, dated 7 July 2005, decided to send to Afghanistan, a co-operation partner of the OSCE, an Election Support Team. The decision followed separate invitations to the OSCE from the Afghan Foreign Minister and the Chair of the Afghan Joint Election Management Body, to observe the elections to the National Assembly.

Presidential Election, 9 October 2004
- OSCE Permanent Council Decision 622 mandated an Election Support Team to analyse the electoral process in Afghanistan during the 2004 Presidential election and recommend suitable electoral and legislative improvements in advance of Parliamentary, provincial and local elections in 2005.
