The New-Med Track II Network
The OSCE reaches out to the Mediterranean expert community. The New-Med Track II Network (New Med stands for New Mediterranean) brings together experts inspired by a common commitment to peace and security in the Mediterranean region and an interest in how the OSCE can move Mediterranean co-operation forward.
New-Med is a Track II initiative supported by the OSCE. In the context of Track II initiatives, the OSCE promotes unofficial dialogue and problem-solving activities aimed at building relationships and encouraging new thinking that can inform the official dialogue of the OSCE Mediterranean Partnership.
Launched in 2014, New-Med is the result of a public-private partnership between the OSCE, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the International Affairs Institute (IAI -a Rome-based think tank) and the Compagnia San Paolo (an Italian private sector foundation). New-Med is run by IAI, which also chairs the Steering Committee, in which the above-mentioned partners are represented.
The New-Med runs workshops and releases articles and reports with an analysis and recommendations on key issues including migration, intercultural dialogue and security.
