The publication presents the results of "Research on Gender Discrimination in the Professional Environment of Advocates and Judges" based on the analysis of questionnaires filled in April- June 2015 by the participants of the trainings on the application of the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights. The publication offers an overview of existing legal framework, with emphasis on key international legal acts and laws of Ukraine on ensuring gender equality and non-discrimination. It also presents analysis of the forms of statistical reporting with regard to availability of gender-segregated data and national courts’ practice in cases on gender discrimination; it also outlines relevant case-law of the European Court of Human Right. The publication provides recommendations for judges and advocates on implementation of the principle of gender equality in their work. This publication is not available in English.

This manual aims to increase the professional skills of law enforcement agencies, primarily police inspectors who work directly with people and promote the implementation of the law on “Prevention of Domestic Violence” in the Republic of Tajikistan. The manual explains the phenomena of domestic violence through understanding the psychology of offenders and victims, knowing the existing stereotypes on domestic violence and different aspects of gender equality. It also identifies the role of police personnel in counteracting this phenomenon and aspects of a multidisciplinary approach in the support and protection of victims. Not available in English.

This report provides an overview of the implementation of the new Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) that entered into force on 1 January 2013 together with other legislation reforming the Kosovo justice system. The CPC introduced major changes to criminal proceedings in Kosovo, solidifying a shift from the primarily inquisitorial system in place prior to 2003—and largely still in effect between 2003 and 2012—to a system principally characterized as an adversarial one.

This handbook sets out ODIHR’s approach and practices in assisting participating States in the follow-up of electoral recommendations. While ODIHR has conducted follow-up activities for several years, this handbook aims to establish a more systematic approach that provides clarity and consistency and promotes greater attention to the implementation of recommendations. It has been developed on the basis of generous extra-budgetary contributions as part of ODIHR’s continued effort to improve its methodology and to increase professionalism in election observation activities. The handbook is primarily intended for actors in OSCE participating States addressing ODIHR’s electoral recommendations, but it will also be of use to those following up on recommendations outside the OSCE region.
