OSCE organizes study visit to Georgia for the Alliance of Women Parliamentarians and the Network of Youth for Gender Equality
From June 17 to 20 June 2024, two prominent members of the Alliance of Women Parliamentarians focusing on youth issues and three members of the OSCE Network of Youth for Gender Equality visited Tbilisi, Georgia. The purpose of the visit was to engage with and gain insights into youth policies, gender equality, and the increased participation of women in politics and public affairs in Georgia. Additionally, the visit aimed to raise awareness among the participants about incorporating gender sensitivity in legislation and youth policies.
In Tbilisi, the participants visited the Permanent Parliamentary Gender Equality Council, the Committee of Youth Affairs of the Parliament of Georgia, the Georgian Institute of Politics, and the Human Rights Secretariat of the Administration of the Government of Georgia to exchange best practices regarding women's political participation and youth empowerment.
They also engaged with civil society organizations, including the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association, the Georgian Youth Development and Education Association, and the Youth Agency of Georgia, which work in the areas of gender equality and youth empowerment.
Nino Tsilosani, the Chairperson of the Permanent Parliamentary Gender Equality Council, expressed her delight at hosting the delegation from Tajikistan for the second time and sharing Georgia’s best practices in advancing gender equality and women’s political participation.
Mavsuma Muini, Deputy Chairwoman of the Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan and Vice Speaker of the Parliament stated her belief that co-operation between Tajikistan and Georgia will continue to develop steadily in the interests of both states and their people, particularly in the field of youth development.
After the study visit, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe will collaborate with the participants to develop programmes focused on gender mainstreaming in the Parliament and involving youth in policymaking.
