Sanitation situation in rural Tajikistan
The report “Sanitation Situation in Rural Tajikistan” prepared by the international expert Susmita Sinha in 2020, is based on qualitative analyses of information collected through interviews and document reviews. The analysis has been carried out through a Desk Study from a technical, social, institutional, legal, and capacity perspective. Review of reports, articles, and online meetings and discussions with key international and national experts on ongoing sanitation projects in Tajikistan were conducted to understand the requirements.
With this study, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe aimed at identifying perceptions, status quo, and gaps across infrastructure, institutional setups, socio-economic conditions, knowledge, awareness, capacities of stakeholders, and legal frameworks. The report can be used by a wide range of audiences, especially informing decision-makers and key stakeholders about what is needed to improve the sanitation and setting requirements for further field study.
