Regional OSCE conference on key factors to sustain and strengthen security sector governance and reform to take place in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, 23 October 2017 –Key factors to sustain and strengthen security sector governance and reform (SSG/R) processes in South-Eastern Europe will be discussed at the OSCE-hosted regional conference on 27 October in Sarajevo.
OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Harlem Désir holds 19th Central Asia Media Conference on Open Journalism in Tashkent

VIENNA, 16 October 2017 - The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Harlem Désir will visit Tashkent from 17 to 19 October 2017 and open the 19th regional Central Asia Media Conference "Open Journalism in Central Asia". The Central Asia Media Conference takes place annually and provides a forum for discussion of issues pertinent to the freedom of expression and aids in the fulfilment of the OSCE commitments regarding media freedom in Central Asia.
OSCE Special Monitoring Mission’s Principal Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug to visit eastern Ukraine

KYIV, 9 October 2017 – The Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Alexander Hug will travel to eastern Ukraine from 10 to 14 October. The purpose of his visit is to assess the security situation along the contact line and its impact on civilians and to evaluate pending repair projects for critical infrastructure. Moreover, he will encourage all concerned to work towards peace and normalization of the situation, in particular through meetings with senior government officials, representatives of the Joint Centre for Control and Co-ordination, senior members of the armed formations and other relevant interlocutors.
