OSCE Mission in Kosovo condemns incidents in Goraždevac/Gorazhdec, calls for prompt investigation
PRISHTINË/PRIŠTINA, 7 December 2015 – The Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo Jean-Claude Schlumberger strongly condemned today the latest incidents affecting the Kosovo Serb community in the village of Goraždevac/Gorazhdec, Pejë/Peć municipality.
Early morning today, the properties of the Petrović and Vuksanović families, as well as a vehicle owned by a member of the Kolašinac family, were damaged by gunshots. A monument that commemorates the deaths of local Kosovo Serbs, including the 2003 killing of youths at the nearby river of Bistrica/Bistricë, was also damaged. A similar incident occurred in Goraždevac/Gorazhdec in July 2015.
“I strongly condemn these incidents. The intensity of the latest one and the fact that it is a reoccurring concern contributes to a sense of insecurity among the local Kosovo Serb community,” said Schlumberger.
He also urged law enforcement agencies to investigate the cases efficiently and bring those responsible to justice with the utmost urgency. “Such incidents must be treated as a matter of priority, so that all communities, regardless of their place of residence, can feel secure and protected,” Schlumberger concluded.
