OSCE Centre concludes two-year programme on eco-journalism in Kazakhstan
A two-year training programme on environmental journalism, supported by the Centre in Astana, concluded in Almaty on 20 September 2013. Over the two years, more than 140 journalists from different regions of Kazakhstan participated in training seminars held in Almaty, Atyrau, Karaganda, Pavlodar and Shymkent.
Today’s final seminar, led by national experts, brought together some 30 professional journalists and journalism students. As part of the event, a publication entitled Practical Guide on Environmental Journalism, developed as a result of the programme, was formally presented. The publication of the guide and all training seminars were prepared jointly by the OSCE Centre and the NGO Media Net - International Centre of Journalism.
This project is part of the OSCE Centre’s activities aimed at stimulating better access to ecological information, strengthening public participation in decision-making and improving environmental security.
