OSCE Mission to Croatia deplores attack on Vukovar Mayor's house
ZAGREB 9 September 2002
ZAGREB, 9 September 2002 - The OSCE Mission to Croatia deplores an attack on the property of Vukovar's Mayor, Vladimir Stengl, last Friday when unknown perpetrators threw an explosive device at his house. Fortunately the incident did not result in any physical injuries.
The Mission hopes that this is an isolated incident and that the perpetrators are promptly identified and brought to justice.
Actions like this clearly do not contribute to the improvement of the situation in Vukovar. However, the Mission has observed that, despite this act, the security situation in the area has substantially improved in recent months.
