Winners of OSCE-supported anti-corruption contest in Armenia awarded prizes
YEREVAN, 27 November 2007 - The winners of a painting contest for high school students on corruption-related topics were awarded prizes at a ceremony in Yerevan today.
The contest was organized by local NGOs the Future is Yours and the Millennium Association for Education and Research, and supported by the OSCE Office in Yerevan.
Over 200 paintings and drawings were received from students in Yerevan and five regions of Armenia, and 12 paintings were selected as winners. The winning paintings will be used for a 2008 calendar.
"Increasing awareness of corruption among young people and educating them to reject it will help reinforce their role in combating this crime," said Ambassador Sergey Kapinos, Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan.
During the last eight months, NGO the Future Is Yours taught an anti-corruption course in eight schools in Yerevan. The course explained ways to tackle corruption through role-playing and interactive teaching methods.
