OSCE workshop in Yerevan discusses anti-corruption legislation and mechanisms
YEREVAN, 29 November 2005 - Supporting Armenia's efforts in combating corruption, money laundering and economic crime will be the aim of an OSCE-organized workshop starting today in Yerevan.
Participants of the two-day event are discussing anti-corruption legislation and mechanisms, as well as preventive measures, financial analysis, criminal investigation procedures and the prosecution of corruption-related crimes.
The event is organized by the OSCE Office in Yerevan and the Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities (OCEEA), together with the Armenian Monitoring Commission for the Implementation of Anti-Corruption Strategy.
Drago Kos, the President of the Council of Europe Group of States against Corruption, Olga Savran of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, and other experts will share their experience in the field with their Armenian colleagues.
Participants are expected to make recommendations on what assistance may be required for Armenia.
The OSCE Office helped produce the Armenian version of the OCEEA publication, "Best Practices to Fight Corruption" and the manual, "Civil Service against Corruption: 100 facts," which were presented to the participants of the workshop.
