OSCE Office supports training course for young people in Armenia on anti-corruption
TSAGHKADZOR, Armenia, 3 December 2014 - A four-day workshop to sum up an anti-corruption course on investigative journalism and photo reporting for 25 young people was launched today in Tsaghkadzor by the Future is Yours NGO with the support of the OSCE Office in Yerevan.
“Teaching young people about their role in promoting effective and fair governance, awareness of corruption threats and skills of initiating a public debate on issues of concern for the society is vital,” said Naira Gyulnazaryan, Anti-corruption projects co-ordinator at the OSCE Office in Yerevan.
The wrap-up seminar includes debates, interactive games and summing-up lessons learned during the preparatory trainings on investigative journalism and documentary photography. Winners of a photo-story competition will also be awarded. The debate topics at the workshop will include ‘State polices influencing corruption risks’ and ‘Legislative bodies versus political parties: which are more effective in the fight against corruption?’
The winners in the contest and training participants will receive books. The trainers, media and photography experts will provide feedback on the submissions they received from participants for the photo contest, the criteria for selection, and the strengths and weaknesses of each submission.
The training course was organized within the OSCE Yerevan Office-supported initiative to implement extra-curricular anti-corruption education projects for students from high schools and higher educational institutions, aimed to develop young participants’ media, investigative reporting and photography skills in covering corruption-related topics.
