OSCE Centre holds training course for Uzbek women on rights

TASHKENT, 27 October 2004 - A training course focusing on women's rights and co-operation between NGOs working in this field is being held in the Uzbek capital.
Organized by the OSCE Centre in Tashkent and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), it brings together twenty-two women, representing different NGOs and government offices.
Participants are discussing issues related to justice, national and international legislation, developing a monitoring strategy and various projects.
The four-day event, which will end on 29 October, is part of the Human Rights Education programme of the OSCE Centre in Tashkent. At a previous event in June 2003 participants focussed on issues related to human rights, violence against women and skills for monitoring and reporting women's rights.
