OSCE Tashkent Centre holds leadership skills training for Uzbekistan's women

TASHKENT, 15 September 2004 - Twenty women representing several Uzbek ministries, political parties, non-governmental organizations, the media, academia and lawyers gathered in the capital for a five day leadership skills training, organized by the OSCE Centre.
The event, which started yesterday and will last until Saturday, 18 September, is the third and final phase of the Centre's Women in Leadership training series, part of the Women in Political and Public Life project.
It began with the first training course in November 2003 and the second was held in January-February 2004.
The project is aimed at advancing women's leadership skills and fostering networking and capacity-building among representatives of state structures, public organizations and the media.
This final phase of the training scheme is dedicated to topics such as the concept of advocacy, role of the media and public speaking, media tools and techniques.
