TASHKENT, 18 August 2004 - A summer camp which helped promote environmental education in schools ended its work today in a mountainous area of Tashkent province.
During the 12-day camp, children had a chance to study nature, take part in a contest on environmental education and put together an exhibition of paintings on environmental issues.
Organized by the OSCE Centre in Tashkent, the summer camp helped bring together 60 schoolchildren from different provinces of Uzbekistan.
All of the children were winners of the national competition on environmental issues, carried out by the Youth Environmental Education Centre "BioEcosan". This centre works under the Public Education Ministry of Uzbekistan and has been in operation since 1995.
