OSCE holds training to help women in Uzbekistan advance their leadership skills

TASHKENT, 30 January 2004 - A course in Women's Leadership Training aimed at advancing leadership skills and fostering networking and capacity building among representatives of state structures, public organisations and media opened today in the capital of Uzbekistan. The event, organised by the OSCE Centre in Tashkent and the International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights (IHF), will go on until February 4 and bring together lawyers, academics, representatives of different ministries, political parties, Non-Governmental Organisations and mass media.
The training is part of the OSCE Centre in Tashkent's "Women in Political and Public Life" programme and IHF's Women's Rights Programme. This is the second phase of training, the first was held in Tashkent in November 2003.
Topics to be presented and discussed during the training events will include leadership styles and motivation theories, internal capacity building of leading, communicating and organising work and teams. In addition, the participants will continue the discussion on their visions of gender equality and its promotion in Uzbekistan.
