OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan to hold training course on human rights and rule of law

TASHKENT, 22 May 2007 - United Nations and OSCE standards in the field of human rights and rule of law will be the focus of a training course organized by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan from 22 to 27 May in the Tashkent region.
The course for law teachers will help broaden their knowledge on human rights and rule of law principles, and build their capacity in teaching the subjects to law students.
Participants will learn about national programmes in the CIS region, developing international and national human rights protection mechanisms, and the role of the OSCE in this respect.
The course is part of a project to enhance legal education in Uzbekistan, approved by the host Government last year.
It will be attended by the academics from law faculties of the State Universities in Qaraqalpakstan and Samarkand, the National University, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, and the Tashkent State Institute of Law.
