OSCE Centre organizes meeting on water management in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT, 5 May 2005 - Agricultural and water management projects in Uzbekistan are the focus of a meeting, organized by the OSCE Centre in Tashkent today.

The Water Donors' Meeting brings together government officials, donors, representatives of engineering and consulting companies, development and international organizations and NGO representatives.

Participants will discuss the implementation and operational aspects of programmes and projects in Uzbekistan and in the region, environmental issues, national policy and current legislation. The aim is to better co-ordinate activities among donors and promote information exchange.

This will be the sixth meeting on water management in the country since 2003.

The event is taking place at the office of the United Nations Development Programme in Uzbekistan.
