OSCE Project Co-ordinator supports campaign to prevent human trafficking ahead of 2012 European Football Championship
The OSCE Project Co-ordinator (PCU) in Ukraine supports an initiative by the country’s authorities to raise public awareness about major social issues ahead of the 2012 European Football Championship, which will be jointly hosted by Ukraine and Poland.
Ukraine’s State Service for Youth and Sports launches campaign “Let’s Do It Together” on 14 May 2011 with support from several local and international organizations including the OSCE Project Co-ordinator.
Targeting mainly Ukrainian youth, the campaign promotes tolerance and non-discrimination and healthy lifestyles, including reduction of risks deriving from drugs use and unprotected sexual relations. It also aims to combat violence against youth and children as well as human trafficking with a particular focus on exploitation of children and women during international sport events. The campaign also encourages youth to take part in sport activities.
The OSCE PCU will support the campaign's awareness-raising activities to prevent human trafficking and labour exploitation.
The promotional tour within the campaign will take place in the Ukrainian cities that host matches, including Kyiv on 14 May, Donetsk on 1 June, Kharkiv on 15-16 June and Lviv on 21-22 June.
