DUSHANBE, 6 May 2010 - Policing and border management expert Alain Scolan took up his post as principal of the OSCE Border Management Staff College in Dushanbe today.
Prior to his appointment Scolan, a French national, served as Co-ordinator at the General Secretariat of INTERPOL in the fields of organized crime, crisis management and fugitives tracking. He was also Deputy Head of the International Training Centre of the French Gendarmerie, and Regional Coordinator of the EU's Border Management Programme in Central Asia-Central Asia Drug Action Programme (BOMCA-CADAP).
The OSCE Border Management Staff College was founded in May 2009 to help train border security managers and promote co-operation between OSCE States and Partner countries.
