OSCE Border Management Staff College in Dushanbe holds workshop on border control
DUSHANBE, 28 April 2010 - Heads of border crossing points are taking part in a workshop on the organization of border control that is being held this week at the OSCE Border Management Staff College in Dushanbe.
The three-day workshop, which concludes on Thursday, was organized and conducted by the OSCE Border Management Staff College jointly with the Tajik State National Security Committee's Main Border Troops Directorate. It aims to develop the Tajik Border Management System and facilitate regional cross-border co-operation among border protection agencies of the Central Asian OSCE participating States.
"We attach great importance to this College as a unique entity that will play a strategic role in promoting international standards in all aspects of border management," said Ambassador Ivar Vikki, the Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan.
The course is the third one of a series of workshops held at the College this year. Apart from this course, the College also conducted workshops on border guard detachment as a party to secure and protect state border and state border protection and security.
Workshop topics included sessions on the OSCE border security and management concept, border control and effective methods and forms to protect state borders. Intra-service, inter-service and international co-operation and case studies on different countries' models of national border strategy processes and border control also were on the agenda.
