OSCE and Tajik Presidency agree to work together on new Administrative Code
DUSHANBE, 4 October 2001 (OSCE) - The OSCE and the Executive Apparatus of the President of Tajikistan have signed a Co-operation Agreement on the drafting and adoption of a new Administrative Code for the Republic of Tajikistan.
At the beginning of 2001, the Tajik Government decided to adopt a new Administrative Code. The main reason for this decision was that the revised Administrative Code of Tajikistan, adopted in 1986 and based on the Soviet legal system, did not correspond to the present political and socio-economic situation in the country and contradicts the current legislation of Tajikistan, in particular its Constitution.
The Agreement now signed, which is in force until the end of 2002, is aimed at the adoption of a new Administrative Code, which is conform to the international obligations of the Republic of Tajikistan and its Constitution.
