OSCE supports new consulting centres for rural entrepreneurs, farmers and labour migrants in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 27 October 2006 - Three OSCE-supported centres, - on agriculture business consulting and legal advice for small businesses, and information for potential labour migrants, - opened in the Khatlon province of Tajikistan this week.
"A regional information Centre in Kurgan-Tyube is intended to provide potential labor migrants with accurate, up-to-date information on immigration, registration and other legal requirements in the most popular destination countries - Russia and Kazakhstan," said Bess Brown, Economic Officer in the OSCE Centre in Dushanbe.
"This centre is part of an OSCE project to open a network of information centres throughout the country to offer legal information in order to contribute to the economic stabilization in Tajikistan."
An agriculture business consulting Centre, which opened in Kurgan-Tyube, will provide farmers and entrepreneurs with information and advice on starting businesses, taxation of agricultural enterprises, improving produce and fighting pests and diseases. Similar OSCE-supported consulting centers for rural entrepreneurs and farmers already operate in Dushanbe, Jomi, Shaartuz, Qumsangir and Darband.
The third centre, on legal advice and support, opened in Bohtar. It will provide entrepreneurs with information and advice on the legal aspects of starting and running a small business enterprise. Similar legal centres are already operating in Khorog, Shahrinav and Khujand.
