Twenty Tajik and Kyrgyz border guards completed on 22 April 2016 in Dushanbe a three-week OSCE operational planning training course, conducted in the framework of the third phase of the OSCE Office’s patrol programming and leadership project.
The focus of the training was on decision-making process, situation analysis at the border, preparation and implementation of operational plans and joint activity planning. The border guards were familiarized with management and analysis for operational planning in action, risk analysis, the stages of the operational planning as well as inter-agency and cross-border co-operation for the protection of the border.
"Co-operation between Kyrgyz and Tajik border troops is a key in ensuring border management and security. These will more than double the capacity in dealing with the challenges of transnational organized crime, terrorism, and the drug trade while promoting cooperation between services," said Fejzo Numanaj, Head of the OSCE Office’s Politico-Military Department in Tajikistan.
The training course was delivered by international expert from Ireland, representatives of the Russian Border Advisory Group in Tajikistan, local expert with an experience on operation planning at the border and the UNHCR representatives in Tajikistan.
