International Symposium – Mine Action 2023 is an annual event, organised by the Ministry of Interior and Croatian Mine Action Centre – Centre for Testing, Development and Training to bring together demining professionals from across the world so that they could share best practices, exchange their experiences, present and learn about new approaches and technologies that help war-affected communities get rid of explosive threats.
Due to the ongoing war, Ukraine is severely affected by mine contamination and unexploded ordnance. The OSCE Secretariat Extra-Budgetary Support Programme supports participation of the Ukrainian delegation at the Symposium, so that officials from relevant authorities could present their efforts to clear contaminated lands, outline areas where more international assistance and co-operation is needed, as well as learn from experiences of other countries.
The forum devotes a section to focus on the situation in Ukraine. The agenda of the event is available here: https://www.ctro.hr/en/save-the-date-19-international-symposium-mine-action-2023/.
This effort is part of the project implemented within the OSCE Secretariat Extra-Budgetary Support Programme for Ukraine with primary financial support from the European Union, and contributions from Austria, Czech Republic and France. Full list of the Programme’s donors is available here.
