Irish official named new OSCE Senior Police Adviser
VIENNA, 1 February 2006 - The OSCE Secretary General, Ambassador Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, announced today the appointment of Kevin Carty from Ireland as the Organization's new Senior Police Adviser. Mr. Carty will be seconded to the OSCE by the Irish Government.
"I am pleased that we have been able to gain Mr. Carty to fill this senior position," the Secretary General said. "I am sure that his professionalism and outstanding career will be a major asset for his new post."
Mr. Carty can look back on a distinguished career in the Irish Police Force, which culminated in his appointment as Police Commissioner of the Dublin Metropolitan Area and City. He also gained extensive international experience working with the European Union and the United Nations. Most recently, he headed the European Union Police Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Prior to this, he was special adviser to the Independent Panel on the Safety and Security of UN Personnel in Iraq and a member of the Security in Iraq Accountability Panel.
