OSCE Mission to Skopje supports police management training

The OSCE Mission to Skopje supports training for 15 mid-level managers from the Ministry of Interior that started as of 8 October 2012.

The three-day training course aims to enhance the participants’ knowledge and skills and facilitate their professional development by presenting management techniques including the implications of different policing approaches, the impact of public trust on performance management, problem-solving in community-based policing and the difficulties in setting crime and public order priorities in a multicultural society.

“We want to help police managers to gain new skills and learn international best practices” said the Head of the OSCE Mission’s Police Development Department Viacheslav Vorobiev. “They will be able to use the skills gained in their daily work and share them with colleagues, to the benefit of both the police and the public.”

The Head of the Police Training Centre which hosted the training Goce Bacanov said that the course would enhance participants’ skills, particularly in effective decision-making - one of the key competencies modern managers need to apply in their daily work.

The training is part of the OSCE Mission’s activities aimed at strengthening the Ministry’s capacities and contributing to the further professionalization of the police service.
