OSCE reaffirms commitment to international stance on former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
SKOPJE 24 May 2001
SKOPJE, 24 May 2001 (OSCE) - In view of the recent events, the Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe feels it essential to reaffirm the commitment of the OSCE to adhere totally to the often reiterated positions of the international community (NATO, EU, etc.).
According to the statement issued in the past days, and repeated in today's press release of the British Embassy (in the name of the EU), the Ethnic Albanian armed groups (EAAG) calling themselves the NLA do not have any legal status and in the present situation cannot be considered as partners in a political dialogue.
The OSCE Mission continues to support the Presidency, the Government, and the people of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in their effort to safeguard the integrity of the country.
