Macedonian Women's Lobby becomes first lobby group

SKOPJE, 6 March 2000 - Under the auspices of the Gender Task Force of the Stability Pact Working Table I, and upon the initiative of the Macedonian National Gender Task Force, the Macedonian Women's Lobby was inaugurated on 1st March 2000.
The Macedonian Women's Lobby is the first functioning lobby group in the country. Its aim is to support the National Gender Task Force platform and promote increased participation of women in the decision-making bodies of the country, in both public life and politics.
The OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission is working closely with the national Gender Task Force and to launch the national action plan, has contributed 5,000 euros through the ODIHR Grassroots Project.
After the successful launching, many activities are expected to be started which will make the issue of women's rights and political contribution a public one.
