OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje hosts Tajik delegation to discuss fight against human trafficking
SKOPJE, 1 September 2009 - A delegation from Tajikistan engaged in combating trafficking in human beings arrived in Skopje today on the invitation of the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje to share experiences and lessons learned with local counterparts.
During the three-day study tour, officials from Tajik state institutions dealing with the fight against trafficking will meet representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Commission to Combat Human Trafficking and Illegal Migration, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the Prosecutor's Office and local non-governmental organizations to discuss up-to-date approaches to combating human trafficking and identifying and assisting victims.
"The Mission is pleased to share experiences and best practices in the field of combating trafficking in human beings. These study tours present a unique opportunity for networking and creating regional responses to this type of organized crime," said Lisa Tilney, the Head of the OSCE Mission's Rule of Law Department.
The OSCE Mission to Skopje is assisting government and non-governmental stakeholders in their efforts to combat human trafficking and provide victim assistance by supporting the implementation of the National Action Plan to Combat Trafficking in Human Beings and Illegal Migration.
