OSCE Mission to Skopje trains state co-ordinators on gender equality
SKOPJE, 30 October 2008 -State co-ordinators for equal opportunities, appointed in all government ministries, will be trained on gender equality and mainstreaming in policy formulation at a two-day workshop launched in Mavrovo today.
The OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje is providing the training in co-operation with the Sector for Equal Opportunities within the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. The co-ordinators, appointed in line with the law on equal opportunities, will be responsible for promoting and incorporating the concept of equal opportunities for men and women in programmes and policies nationally.
"Through this workshop, the co-ordinators and other relevant state actors will be equipped with the latest theoretical and practical tools in the field of gender equality and mainstreaming in policy formulation, in accordance with European Union and OSCE standards," said Jovdat Mammadov, Deputy Head of Mission's Rule of Law Department.
Elena Grozdanova, State Adviser in the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, said:
"The training course aims to strengthen co-operation between different state actors in developing more effective national gender equality structures."
