OSCE Mission to Skopje supports Summer University in Ohrid
SKOPJE, 23 June 2008 - Non-discrimination, social inclusion and European citizenship are the focus of a one-week course, supported by the OSCE Mission to Skopje, that began today at the Ohrid Summer University.
The course is aimed at helping postgraduate students, human rights activists and members of marginalized groups address problems related to implementation of human rights legislation in the country.
"The course seeks to provide the participants with the latest theoretical and practical tools in order to grasp the complexity of the human rights situation in the country, from the perspectives of the most socially vulnerable groups of people in the society, and improve the current legislation accordingly," said Donald Bisson, Head of Mission's Rule of Law Department.
Katerina Kolozova, Director of Ohrid Summer University said: "We advocate for a socially inclusivee approach to fight discrimination, since it is the most proactive human development approach to the social well-being of all members of society."
The project was initiated by the Institute for Social and Humanities Research Euro-Balkan in co-operation with the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje.
