OSCE Missions in Skopje and Belgrade organize evaluation training for police instructors
SKOPJE, 9 October 2006 - Today, for the first time, instructors from the Police Academy in Skopje completed a training programme teaching them how to evaluate other instructors. The course was organized by the OSCE missions in Serbia and Skopje.
"Until now, capacity building in the Police Academy has consisted only of training of trainers and instruction on curriculum development, but for the circle to be completed, the Academy must have a mechanism for evaluating its own trainers," said Phillip Tolson, Head of the Police Development Unit in the OSCE Mission to Skopje.
"These new evaluators will be able to give feedback to their colleagues, helping them further develop their skills as instructors and adapt courses to be more effective for the participants."
Along with colleagues from the Serbian police training staff, the four participants from the Skopje Academy first attended a Trainer Evaluation Course in Belgrade organized by the OSCE Mission to Serbia. Today, they completed the mentoring phase of the training programme implemented by the OSCE Mission to Skopje.
"This course was particularly important because it was the first of this type in the framework of police education. Now our instructors have the capability to evaluate the training by professors and instructors here at the Academy and at the Interior Ministry," said Liljana Popovic, Deputy Director for Continuing Education in the Skopje Police Academy.
