OSCE Mission to Skopje supports conference on prevention of violent extremism and radicalization
Preventing violent extremism and radicalisation leading to terrorism (PERT) was the focus of the OSCE Mission to Skopje-supported conference held today in Skopje.
The aim of the PERT project is to strengthen the capacity of police officers to counter violent extremism and to raise awareness of the benefits of utilizing police-public partnership techniques as a means of countering the challenges of violent extremism.
“This project will help first-line polices officers to detect indicators of radicalization at an early stage and prevent such phenomena through a community policing approach,” said the Head of OSCE Mission to Skopje Nina Suomalainen.
The PERT project is complementary to the “United in Countering Violent Extremism” campaign launched by the OSCE in May 2015, which highlights the comprehensive approach to preventing violent extremism under a common slogan.
