OSCE Mission to Skopje supports joint Iftar (fast-breaking) dinner for different communities in Kumanovo
An outdoor Iftar (fast-breaking) dinner was organized in Kumanovo with the support of the OSCE Mission to Skopje on 4 July 2015, bringing together Muslim and non-Muslim believers to learn more about each other’s cultures and beliefs.
The event was organized by the NGO Islamic Youth Forum, and supported by the Kumanovo municipality , the OSCE Mission to Skopje, and UNDP, under the motto “Celebrating the same goal together: Sharing the joy of unity, common values, and mutual respect.”
Acting Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje, Ambassador Marianne Berecz, congratulated the Muslim community on the holy month of Ramadan, which she described as “a time for reflection.”
“One community can be successful only if all groups living in that community are respected and actively participate in its life,” said Ambassador Berecz.
For the past few years, Kumanovo municipality has actively supported and participated in an Iftar dinner organized by the Islamic Youth Forum, with the aim of connecting the cultures in this multi-ethnic and multi-religious community, and encouraging the local population to value diversity.
