Skopje city administrators to be trained on new assessment technique, with OSCE’s help
SKOPJE, 18 June 2013 – Staff at Skopje’s city administration will be introduced today to a new quality measurement standard aimed at improving work processes and professional performance at a training course initiated by the Ministry of Information Society and Administration and supported by the OSCE.
During the two-day course, the City of Skopje management will be trained and guided on how to apply the Common Assessment Framework, a quality measurement standard designed by the European Institute of Public Administration to provide the continuous improvement of work and organizational processes, promotion of employees' motivation and monitoring performance. The training course is the first in a series of five that will be held in several ministries until September this year.
“A proper internal set up in the administration is an important requirement to provide efficient and client-friendly services to citizens,” said Marcus Rolofs, Head of the OSCE Mission in Skopje’s Human Dimension Department. “How the public administration delivers its services to citizens is also a good way to measure the state’s accountability and its commitment to democracy and the rule of law.”
Jahi Jahija, State Secretary at the Ministry of Information Society and Administration, added: “The introduction of the Common Assessment Framework will have a major beneficial effect on the overall public administration system and will provide for a modern, efficient and professional public administration serving the citizens. Similar practices in the application of international standards for quality management are expected to be integrated in all government policies and to become an imperative for all public institutions.”
