As a follow-up to the 2012 Security Days event, this workshop aims at defining the role of the OSCE in reconciliation after conflicts, examining our concepts and practices and drawing from past and present experiences.
During the Security Days reconciliation was identified as an essential building block for working towards a security community, and a key element of any durable peace. During discussions on the conflict cycle Secretary General Lamberto Zannier referred to reconciliation as a central aspect of post-conflict rehabilitation, prevention and resolution.
Representatives of OSCE delegations and executive structures as well as other international organizations, non-governmental organizations, think-tanks and academic institutions will attend the event to share their views on how the OSCE can develop a strategy for reconciliation within its region.
Each workshop session will be followed by a debate open to the public. The event will be streamed live for those who cannot attend. Active participation in the event is welcomed and encouraged – comments and questions can be sent prior to and during the event via Twitter, @OSCE and Facebook.
