OSCE Secretary General Zannier congratulates Donald Trump on winning the U.S. Presidency
VIENNA, 9 November 2016 –The Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Lamberto Zannier today congratulated Donald Trump on winning the Presidency of the United States of America.
“I congratulate Donald Trump on his election as the 45th President of the United States of America,” said Zannier. “The United States is a committed participating State of the OSCE, and I look forward to continuing our co-operation in working together for stability and peace across the OSCE region, in enhancing implementation of OSCE commitments, and in addressing the many challenges facing our participating States."
He added that all participating States, including the United States, need to work together to heal divisions, build bridges and conduct dialogue to confront the security threats of our time.
Some 300 observers from 43 countries, including 197 long-term and short-term observers deployed by the OSCE/ODIHR and 104 parliamentarians and staff from the OSCE PA, have observed over the last days and weeks the election process. This International Election Observation Mission, led by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), will soon present its preliminary post-election statement.
