OSCE Secretary General meets Italian Foreign Minister Bonino, discusses Italian EU Presidency, security in Mediterranean
OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier met Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino, Deputy Foreign Minister Marta Dassù , Secretary General Michele Valensise and Political Affairs Director Sandro de Bernardin during an official visit to Rome on 14 October 2013.
Discussions centred around on-going efforts to resolve protracted conflicts, security developments in the Mediterranean region and co-operation between the OSCE and EU with respect to the Italian Presidency of the EU in the second half of 2014.
Zannier paid a courtesy visit to the new President of the Italian Parliament Pietro Grasso, with whom he discussed the complementary role played by parliamentary diplomacy in the area of conflict prevention and resolution.
He also gave a lecture at the Italian Società Italiana per l’Organizazzione Internazionale (SIOI) to a group of students on the role of the OSCE in the current geopolitical context.
