OSCE Mission announces 2010 “Person of the Year” award
BELGRADE, 14 December 2010 – Brankica Stankovic, an investigative journalist from B92 television, received the OSCE Mission to Serbia’s 2010 “Person of the Year” award at a ceremony held in Belgrade today.
“Through her work, Brankica Stankovic has become a symbol of independent and professional journalism in Serbia. It is an honour to present her with this award recognizing her excellent service to the Serbian public, and her dedication to upholding OSCE values in this country,” said Ambassador Dimitrios Kypreos, the Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia.
“Brankica has investigated a sensitive layer of connections between organized crime, football hooliganism and politics, which is of great service to all who work on establishing the rule of law and advancing human rights,” added Kypreos. “She personifies new improved standards of professionalism in Serbia’s investigative journalism.”
Organized for the fifth consecutive year, the “Person of the Year” award aims to recognize individuals for contributing to the implementation of the OSCE Mission’s programmes and upholding OSCE values in their work.
