OSCE Mission to Serbia Head welcomes election of Commissioner for the Protection of Equality

BELGRADE, 6 May 2010 - The Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia Ambassador Dimitrios Kypreos, welcomed today the decision by the National Assembly of Serbia to elect the Dean of the Law Faculty of Nis, Nevena Petrusic, as the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality.

"The OSCE Mission welcomes the appointment of Serbia's Commissioner for the Protection of Equality. The Commissioner has a crucial role to play in ensuring the equal treatment of all citizens of Serbia, as prescribed by the 2009 Law on Anti-Discrimination", said Kypreos. "Our Mission has enjoyed a long and fruitful professional partnership with Dean Petrusic, and we are confident that in this new capacity she will continue to advocate for the cause of human rights and equal opportunities."
