BELGRADE/PODGORICA 9 December 2003
BELGRADE/PODGORICA, 9 December 2003 - The improvement of regional co-operation and information exchange between broadcasting agencies in Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was the goal of a series of intensive OSCE-organized workshops that ended today.
Since 21 November, leading officials of Montenegro's Broadcasting Agency met their colleagues from BiH in Podgorica, Sarajevo and Kotor to discuss the regulations and by-laws governing the work of the two agencies, in particular with regard to the frequency and broadcasting signal distribution.
"This project is a good example of how the OSCE tries to foster regional co-operation in the important area of media development," said Ambassador Rudolph Bogner, Head of the OSCE Mission's Office in Podgorica. "I especially welcome the determination of the two broadcasting agencies to expand their co-operation and to extend it to other regional partners."
At the end of the workshop series, the heads of the two broadcasting agencies signed an agreement on the conduct of further joint activities. The broadcasting agencies of other countries in the region will be invited to join this co-operation.
