OSCE Mission condemns recent violence in southern Serbia
BELGRADE 25 August 2003
BELGRADE, 25 August 2003 - The Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Montenegro, Ambassador Maurizio Massari, has condemned the series of violent incidents which took place in southern Serbia over the last two weeks, including two explosions that occurred in Presevo on Saturday, 23 August.
"Such violent attempts to destabilize the peace in the region can only face one type of reaction," he said. "This is why on behalf of the OSCE Mission, I want to express our strongest and unequivocal condemnation and opposition to those acts."
Ambassador Massari added, "These acts of violence will not and cannot divert the OSCE and other international actors from our ongoing joint work with the Serbian Government aimed at consolidating the multi-ethnic stability and the socio-economic development of the region of southern Serbia."
