OSCE Mission to Serbia supports an environmental documentary for youth
BELGRADE, 4 November 2009 - An OSCE-supported ecological documentary for young people "Heritage for the future" was presented in the Vracar municipality of Belgrade today.
The production of the film was supported by the OSCE Mission to Serbia, the Royal Netherlands Embassy and the "Victoria group" corporation. It was produced by a non-governmental organization, "Ekolibri".
"The underlying message of the documentary is the need to reduce environmental pressures by engaging civil society, particularly young people, coupled with a greater role for the public in advocating environmentally-friendly behaviour," said Daiana Falloni, the Head of the OSCE Mission's Democratization Department.
The storyline is presented through picturesque footage of different environmental sites in Serbia affected by industrial development.
"Our goal is to promote environmental responsibility among school-age students in an appealing manner. We see education as a key component in fostering appreciation for the preservation of the environment in society," said Aleksandar Vlajic, who manages the NGO "Ekolibri".
To maximize the outreach to the target audience, the movie will be distributed to schools, youth centres and other educational institutions.
