OSCE course helps Serbian and Montenegrin border services learn to identify false documents and stolen cars
BELGRADE, 29 May 2008 - Spotting false documents and stolen cars was the focus of a four-day course organized jointly by the OSCE Missions to Serbia and Montenegro that ended today.
Twenty border police and customs officers from Serbia and Montenegro took part in the course, aimed to help harmonize procedures at border crossing points between Serbia and Montenegro.
"The OSCE Missions are committed to work closely with the local border authorities and help them develop a modern concept of border security and management in line with European standards," said Tor Tanke Holm, the Head of the Law Enforcement Department of the OSCE Mission to Serbia. "The ultimate goal is to advance free and secure movement of persons, goods and services across borders."
The course was a part of the OSCE Missions' work to promote an integrated border management concept, which promotes regional co-operation.
The course was conducted by national experts from the Serbian border police, as well as from the Montenegrin and Serbian national crime technical centres.
