OSCE seminar on trans-European infrastructure in the Black Sea region
VIENNA 31 October 1995
VIENNA, 31 October 1995 - The Government of Bulgaria, together with the OSCE Secretariat, is organizing a seminar on "The Role of Trans-European Infrastructure for Stability and Co-operation in the Black Sea Region" to be held in Sofia on 15-17 November. The organizers are expecting an open and result-oriented discussion on key aspects of the development of trans-European infrastructure in the field of transport, communications and energy.
The seminar is being held in close co-operation with other relevant international organizations, in particular the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.
The seminar should help define appropriate measures to improve interaction and co-operation between interested OSCE States, international economic and financial institutions and private companies in implementing existing projects for developing and modernizing infrastructure.
As an element of its economic dimension, the OSCE wants to provide a framework for the exploration of ways in which bilateral, subregional and regional co-operation in telecommunications, transportation and energy networks can contribute to greater co-operation and conflict prevention.
The seminar is expected to draw a wide group of participants from OSCE States, international organizations, private business and NGOs. Media representatives are also encouraged to attend.
