OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe holds workshop on electronic exchange of customs information

A week-long workshop on the electronic exchange of customs information concluded on 3 November 2017 in Dushanbe. The workshop, organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, was attended by ten officers of the Customs Service of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan and fifteen officers of the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The workshop aimed to expand the participants’ knowledge of the electronic exchange of customs information to better facilitate trade between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Emphasis was given to the importance of reinforcing border management capacity and the fact that only coordination between the two countries can form the foundation for a successful implementation of the electronic information exchange approach.
Kyrgyz and Tajik officials responsible for the customs data exchange systems in their agencies gave presentations and had discussions on the implementation of the data exchange system, its integration with other systems and the development of the data transfer network between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
