OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe holds workshop on usage of equipment for border control
Twenty four officers from the Tajik Border Troops completed a one-week workshop in Dushanbe on 1 September 2017 on the usage of technical equipment for authenticity verification of security documents. The workshop was organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe.
Participants learned about classification methods of document falsification, passport booklet construction and production, document paper production and security features in the paper, methods of falsification and verification of passports. They also improved their skills in the use of technical devices and methods for document authenticity verification, light sources used during verification, documents with plastic pages and modern methods of verifying their authenticity. The theoretical part of the workshop was followed by on-site training at the passport control section of the Dushanbe International Airport.
The workshop was delivered by two experts from the Austrian Interior Ministry with experience in identification of the forged travel documents.
“The Office is helping to build the capacity of Tajik border officers in the area of contemporary identification of forged travel documents and inter-agency co-ordination and co-operation,” said Vyacheslav Abramets, Border Management Adviser in the OSCE Office’s Politico-Military Department.
The workshop, organized within the framework of the OSCE Office’s Border Management Unit, is part of the successful implementation of the Tajik National Border Management Strategy.
A similar workshop was conducted by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe in 2016.
