K-9 Inter-Agency Coordination Meeting Strengthens Border Security Co-operation
Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyz Republic
The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security, Ministry of Interior, Customs Service under the Ministry of Finance, and the State Service for Execution of Punishment under the Ministry of Justice convened in Issyk-Kul from 26-28 August 2024 for the K-9 Inter-Agency Coordination Meeting.
The main focus of the meeting was the official presentation of the Border Service K-9 Development Strategy (2023-2028) and the Road Map for its implementation. This strategic framework, developed with the support of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek under the Extra Budgetary project on small arms and light weapons, outlines a comprehensive approach to advancing K-9 units through improved operational readiness, inter-agency collaboration, and the integration of advanced methodologies.
During the meeting, participants discussed the upcoming K-9 practical exercise, aiming to synchronize efforts and ensure a unified approach to joint operations. This exercise is seen as a positive step in reinforcing a collective approach to security and operational efficiency.
"Today’s K-9 Inter-Agency Coordination Meeting is more than just a collaborative effort; it’s a vital step towards ensuring our national security and operational excellence," said Nurbek Turganbaev, Head of the Department of the Border Service. "By aligning our resources and strategies, we are not only preparing for a practical exercise but also setting the conditions for effective inter-agency co-operation."
Ambassador Rogov Alexey, Head of OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, emphasized the importance of international collaboration in addressing complex security challenges. "This meeting highlights the crucial role of co-operation in facilitating a seamless coordination for the upcoming practical exercise while strengthening a framework for effective border security and management. This means a more robust, integrated approach to ensuring safety and efficiency at the borders of the Kyrgyz Republic."
The K-9 Inter-Agency Coordination Meeting is a key step in strengthening the long-term partnership between the participating agencies and the Kyrgyz Republic. By working together and coordinating efforts, the meeting tackled current needs and set up a strong base for ongoing and effective collaboration.
