Programme Office in Bishkek assists in improvement of management and leadership skills of prison staff in Kyrgyzstan
A training course supported by the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek on the advancement of management and leadership skills for employees of the State Service for the Execution of Punishment under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (SSEP) was held from 9 to 11 October 2017.
During the training, conducted by professional mentors, 24 senior officers learned how to apply managerial tools and basic personal effectiveness skills in their daily work. They were also introduced to different time-management techniques, aimed at enabling them to create a workplace free of exhaustion.
“SSEP has more than 3,500 staff working around the country and the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek supports the participation of its senior management in training dedicated to the improvement of their supervisory skills. These training courses help managers to acquire new leadership techniques as well as new tools for engaging and motivating staff members as a prerequisite for establishing a harmonious environment at work,” said Acting Senior Human Dimension Officer Kakhramon Sanginov.
“Some of the most important management skills are planning and efficient time management. Effective allocation of one’s time requires a manager to analyse the workload, define priorities, distribute tasks and responsibilities and monitor their timely implementation”, says Head of the SSEP Training Centre Nazira Osmonova.
The OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek assists the SSEP in the implementation of the National Penitentiary Reform Strategy by providing expert and technical assistance. Since the opening of the SSEP Training Centre, some 5,700 SSEP staff members have been trained on more than 40 subjects, including legislation, human rights standards, torture prevention, different security and administrative matters and personal development.
